Preliminary Event Schedule

General Information

The first annual Midwest FastPitch Softball Showcase will take place in Wisconsin in August 2008. The event will provide the following:

• Showcase the best underclass fastpitch softball prospects in the Midwestern Region

• Provide a venue where these athletes are exposed to dozens of collegiate coaches and recruiters over a two day Showcase event

• Provide an exciting atmosphere where the best talent in the Midwest can compete against one another.

• Partner with the National Professional Fastpitch Championship Series to be held in Kimberly Wisconsin to help promote this event to both players and coaches.

• Provide this unique opportunity at a very reasonable cost.

Representation

NOTE: Wisconsin Athletes - Per WIAA rules of eligibility, this event must be open to all Wisconsin players. Players will be accommodated on a first come, first served registration process until the event is full.

The Midwest Fastpitch Softball Showcase will feature 192 elite high school softball players from the following states and possibly more:

• Wisconsin
• Minnesota
• Illinois
• Michigan
• Iowa
• Indiana
• Ohio

Showcase Format

Game Competition - Players will be be broken down into teams of 12 and will play two games each. Games are played on fields adjacent to one another allowing all scouts and coaches the opportunity to see everyone play. Umpires will be provided during these games.

Skill Evaluation - Players will be tested in their primary position and on the mound if they are a pitcher. Skill testing will take place on the diamond during pre-game infield. The first day will have a mandatory format to include the following:

Outfielders will all throw from right field (no cut off ) to second, third and home. Each outfielder will also field two ground balls and throw to first.

Infielders will all throw from shortstop (excluding 1st base). Each player will throw three balls the first round and rotate. Each player will throw two balls during the second round for a total of five throws. 1 st base will then throw to third base.

Catchers will each throw five balls to second base (glove to glove timing) throwing three balls the first round and two the second round.

Pitchers will be evaluated during game competition. Each team will have approximately three pitchers. Every pitcher will throw at least two innings during their team’s first game (a couple may throw three). All pitchers will have the opportunity to throw again during their second game.

Speed Testing – All players will be timed from home to first and from home to home during the first day of the Showcase.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks will include player profiles to include name, address, school, primary and secondary positions, academic information, and high school coach contact information. These will be available for $25.00 at the event and can be purchased at the Showcase check-in tent.
